Michelangelo Antonioni and Ingmar Bergman

Have both passed away today.

Antonioni and Bergman are very different directors. Antonioni investigates people from a distance, hi-lighting their isolation in contemporary environments, his work is very intellectual. Bergman likes to get close to his subjects, he is much more personal and interested in exploring the human psychy.

These were two great directors. Some of there films that were important to me personally were:

Antonioni:
Red Desert
Blow Up

Bergman:
Persona
Scenes from a Marriage
The Hour of the Wolf

They both have done and are remembered for much much more.
